Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

Fathers Day!

It was a great Fathers Day for Daddy as he spent the day golfing with his father. My little ones woke there daddy up with gifts. He hit the ground running with breakfast with family. I realized I was going to have a long day of entertaining the kids but it was worth it, knowing my husband would enjoy Father’s Day. He usually has to work so was probably the first enjoyable Fathers Day. I wished the kids were in a better mood for our long day at the grandparents house, but I guess that would make it Mothers Day.

I called all the other important Fathers in my life. I …

Welcome to Mommyhood

Hi y’all!! My name is Chantel Green, and I’m a 23-year-old former sports editor turned freelance work-from-home mom trying to navigate through my son’s first amazing year.
I met my husband when we were both just three years old, but sparks didn’t fly until much later in life. After college in 2012, we were married and he joined the United States Marine Corps. He received orders to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune at the end of that year, and I moved to the area from our home, deep in the heart of Texas, in early 2013.
Our blessed and exciting journey began with a bang when I secured the …

Meal Time Craziness

I’m not sure if the difference between my little ones is gender related or just because they are different people. My daughter would eat anything and everything, she would quietly do her sign language when she wanted more and she rarely threw food. Caelum is like a little monster when he sees or hears food. He knows the sign for more but decides to scream instead. If you say the word ‘eat’ and don’t immediately hand him food he will scream.

It’s not just food in general but certain foods he wants. He won’t eat hot dogs and he HAS to have a banana when he wakes up right away. Nothing else …

Mommy Madness

Urrrhh!! If I have to hear the word no from one of my children I am going to scream! So, when strangers ask if I am excited to wait for Damon’s first word they are a little surprise when I say no.

My family on the other hand is not because they have met Bella and Ava who are at the wonderful age of 3 and 4. One might ask themselves how you handle the frustration.

I like to call it mommy madness, first I calming explain things to my children and they tell me no I repeat 10 times still hear the word no, yell, they cry, I cry, I send …

Leaving Baby with a Sitter

It’s time to hire a babysitter. I’ve been trying to use family here and there but I’m just to able to work enough. Child care options can be overwhelming especially when you have so many options and can make your schedule to be whatever you want- essentially.

I’ve looked at Day Care and just can’t do it. I’m in no way judging those who place their kids in day care and know many have no choice. I also know there are many day cares that are really great for kids. It’s just not something for us.

In home care- I’ve tried a couple people who do in home …

Yoga for All

We all want to lead our children down a healthy lifestyle so it is never too young to introduce them to exercise.

I have been doing yoga with mine since they could touch their toes. They love putting their feel in the air and have even learned the names of the poses. It is great to do tummy time with the youngest as we do our yoga.

My four- year-old is so comfortable with yogi she will take my iPad and look at my yoga app on my iPad. Her Montessori school also nurtured this relaxing movement. Her nana was excited that she was stretching to and she will do yoga with …

Pool Time!

Taking the kids to the beach and the pool is a lot of fun but also a lot of work! I’m slowly learning how to best make these little trips easier for myself and the kids. As with all of my blog the theme is finding a balance. For this topic the balance is between packing too little and packing too much. I’m also working on keeping myself calm and knowing that things won’t go as planned and craziness will happen.

Packing essentials: towels, change of clothes, snacks/drinks, sunscreen, diapers and band aids. (The last one I learned today when my accident prone 3 year old scraped a chunk of …

Getting Ready for Summer

School is getting out and moms everywhere are feeling the pressure of how to entertain the school age child. It gets tricking when you have an infant and a school ager. Keep in mind most kids like structure so I am making a calendar to keep us organized this year. I am looking up community events at the parks like free movies, story times at the library and book store, craft events at Michaels and anything else I can think of that is free. I think I will schedule some play dates and some small trips to the zoo and aquarium. We haven’t been to the children’s museum so that …

Traveling with Baby

Is there really instructions on this?!

I’ve posted before on traveling with a newborn but it’s different when the baby is a bit older and heading toward toddlerhood. Well he is 13 month’s so I guess that is a toddler!

At that age they are walking which is different, sleeping has changed and diet has changed.

For Caelum I brought some snacks, water and some toys for the car ride. For the weekend trip I brought only a few outfits, one pair of shoes, a handful of diapers and of course diaper cream and tylenol just in case.

It’s nicer when they are older because he was able to play outside …

The Lonely Mom

I was thinking back to when I was a new mom and how lonely I felt. My world had been turned upside down with feedings, changing diapers and a lot more cleaning. It was a quick turn around with our second child and I was starting to feel like I was missing out on social adult functions. Now I have thrown myself into our community and I no longer have the lonely mom blues.

I would love to inspire any lonely moms out there to get out into the mommy world. The parks are a great way to met other people that was always my first place to turn when I …
