It’s So Close!
I’m a member of an online group of women who are all due in March. There’s about 30 of us or so, and we all have similar goals for our childbirth experience, how we want to raise or kids, and lead similar lifestyles. We live all over the country, but we talk every day. It’s been the most amazing support group ever. Over the course of our pregnancies, our due dates have been moved around, we’ve learned about minor health complications, and we’ve even lost a couple babies. We honestly consider each other to be very close and dear friends. The first of the group’s babies was born yesterday. I’m eager to read the birth story as soon as Mama recovers enough to share, but in the mean time, we’re getting labor updates from a second mama who went into labor last night. We have established a phone chain to
“Glow”? I Think You Mean “Grow.”
At my last midwife appointment, I weighed in at a whopping 154 pounds. I stand at a meager 5’2″ tall, so this is definitely the most I have weighed in my life. Before getting pregnant, I was a healthy 130 pounds and was working out at the gym, so that number was on the decline before getting two bright pink lines on a pee stick. The most I have ever weighed was 145 pounds, so needless to say, that number was a bit hard to swallow. Of course, weight gain is a normal and healthy part of pregnancy, so I’m not really concerned, it was just a bit of a blow to the ego. That weigh in was about three weeks ago, and now that I’m 31 weeks pregnant, the baby is supposed to be putting on a half pound of weight each week by herself. That means the number
Go Mommy Go!!
During my first pregnancy I was adamant about exercise. I had heard that it would make labor faster and less painful and I was all for it. I didn’t do anything extreme but I did try to get in a good cardio work out five or six times a week. Typically I went for a three or four mile walk. I know that is not a lot and that there are pregnant women out there logging many more intense work outs than me, but I found that it was just enough to keep my weight gain healthy and my body pain free. I also truly enjoyed that time to myself and would listen to podcasts on pregnancy, labor, and infant care. As I got further along in my pregnancy, my pace may have slowed but I was as dedicated as ever to walk right up until the baby arrived. I
Going Into Labor Early, What Works Best?
I am now less than 2 weeks away from my scheduled C-section. However, its the holidays and I am more than ready to go into labor. If your an impatient mother like me then I know your ready to get this show on the road. Like me, your also asking everyone under the son from grandma to co-workers how you can make yourself go into labor. I have been asking a lot of people lately and I have received a different answer from everyone I talked to. Co-workers told me to walk a lot, sweep the carpet in my house, and bounce on my inflatable exercise ball. Friends have told me to walk around and relax. My hairdresser told me to drink a little castor oil and that will send me into labor in no time. With all of this advice flying around its hard to know what and who
It’s been fun, TummyTime!
I can’t believe I’m writing this post, but it’s time for me to say good-bye to TummyTime. It’s weird that this is going to be my last post because Levi is only 9 months old and I have so much more to share with everyone and so so so so much more to learn about parenthood from everyone, as well! Boy, have we covered so much already though! We started out talking about pregnant bellies, hormones, vitamins, morning sickness, doctor’s visits, ultrasounds, baby showers, past due, labor, delivery, and so much more! Sharing the main points about Levi’s birth with women who have been there, done that or who were about to be there and doing that was really a great way to becoming a better mother. Without all the knowledge from others and comforting advice I’m not sure I would have been able to figure out motherhood as well
