Laura Waller

My name is Laura Waller and I attended Appalachian State University. After college I moved to Washington DC where I taught Kindergarten. The best part of my time in DC was meeting my wonderful husband Jacob. After enjoying all the excitement of DC, we moved back to Eastern North Carolina, where I continued teaching. After trying for a while to get pregnant and meeting with infertility doctors, we welcomed our first child, Elliana, into the world. Elliana means “my God has answered” and she certainly is our answered prayer. We decided that I would stay home to be with Elli full time. When Elli turned one year old, I decided to cheat a little on the “stay at home” gig and take a part time job working with refugee families in the school systems. That job will end in the Spring of 2012 and, as timing would have it, our second baby is due in May. At this point in time, my days are consumed with keeping up with Elli (which is harder than it sounds), working, trying to find exciting activities around Eastern NC for our family to experience, an occasional work out, and honestly - an occasional nap. I know things are certainly going to change in our house and in some ways that makes me a bit nervous so I am always excited to get advice from experienced moms!

My name is Alexis Schulman and I’m a born and raised Jersey shore girl. I grew up 5 minutes from the beach, so bare feet and a sand filled jeep were always the normal for me. Living in such a diverse place constantly awarded me the opportunity to explore almost any activity I was interested in. These ranged from simply lounging in the sun at the beach to rock climbing in northern New Jersey to eating my way through New York City. I always considered my life complete because I was blessed with a great family, the two best friends a girl could ever have and an amazing career as a forester. Then I met my now husband Jason.

Our parents were best friends for years, but Jason and I never met. He moved to California the year before we met and I was busy going to college and traveling everywhere I could. When I came back from Europe in June of 2008, I finally met the man of my dreams on his birthday. After traveling to California to see him almost twice every month, he moved back to New Jersey that November to start a life with me.

In March 2009, Jason and his little brother decided to join the Marine Corps and that May they were both off to boot camp. After graduation, we were engaged to be married, and because of the unpredictable nature of the military, we decided to get married during Christmas leave on December 27th. Our ceremony was tiny, consisting of our closest family and friends in Atlantic City, NJ. I couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.

This August, I decided to leave Rutgers University when Jason was stationed here in Jacksonville. A week after we moved here, we found out that we were pregnant! Now here we are, transitioning into the 2nd trimester with our first sonogram on October 29th, due on Mother’s Day 2011 and loving every single decision we’ve made that landed us here. I look forward to sharing our fairytale and perhaps helping others and learning from them too.

Hi, my name is Beth and I’m your new Tummy Time blogger. I was born and raised in Lakeland, FL. Growing up I participated in many activities but the one that took up most of my time was gymnastics. I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years. When I got into high school, gymnastics was pushed to the back burner and my main focus was volleyball. I excelled and received many awards throughout my high school years in volleyball, which also included a few offers to large universities with full ride scholarships.  I decided to stay close to home and go to a local State University and play volleyball. I received my AA in Public Relations/ Communications. Currently, I am taking online classes that will be put towards my Bachelors Degree.

I met my husband while we were both working in retail. About a year after meeting, the Marine Corp became part of our lives. He is with an Infantry Battalion that is currently deployed overseas. A few days after his departure, we found out we were expecting our first child. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with our baby girl. We also have two “fur” babies that keep us quite busy; Daisy and Scooter. Daisy is a Greyhound/ Lab mix and Scooter is a Hound mix.

I enjoy reading, being outside in the wonderful sunshine, going out on our boat, fishing, and spending quality time with my husband.

This is a very exciting time for me and I look forward to sharing my thoughts and feelings with you.

Although I currently live in Hubert, NC, I am not originally from the area. I am a true blue yankee! I was born and raised in New York with the snow and crazy weather. Living in the south is a huge change for me. What brought me here? Good Ol’ Uncle Sam! My husband and I are high school sweet hearts. We grew up in the same small town and lived about 5 minutes from one another. He is 3 years older than me so technically we are my high school, his college years sweet hearts; if you can follow that thought.

After a couple years of Nascar school and working in Nascar my husband decided to join the Marine Corps. At this point I had just graduated from a 2 year college with my associates degree and was on my way to Champlain College in Vermont. I stayed there for a summer session and the fall semester before we were married January 2, 2010. Now here we are, newlyweds and expecting our first child! We technically already have our first born though, our 1 year old golden retriever Bo. He is definitely my baby but he will love having a little brother or sister.

We are due March 8, 2011 and unfortunately my husband is scheduled to deploy sometime in February or March. Fingers are crossed that he will be here for the birth!

We have a complicated pregnancy because I have uterus didelphys. That means I have 2 uteruses and this comes with possible complications. We have made it 20 weeks as of October 19 with no problems (knock on wood) and we should find out soon (October 25) if we are having a boy or a girl!

I am so excited to be apart of this wonderful blog family. Stay tuned to share the excitement and learn more about me and my family!

I was raised on the Gulf of Mexico in Pensacola, Florida.  My twin sister, Michelle, and I were born on July 21, 1986, and we partook in many of the same activities growing up and shared many of the same friends.  Around the age of 4, our mother enrolled Michelle and me in ballet classes at the dance studio around the corner from our house; I fell in love with dancing there, and as I grew older I added jazz and tap to my weekly routine.

As I got older I learned to love writing, and English became my favorite subject. After graduation, I attended Pensacola Junior College and obtained my Associates degree in General Studies; I still currently attend the University of West Florida, which is where I transferred in order to receive my Bachelor’s degree, by taking online courses every semester.

I met my husband, Blake, when he was stationed in Pensacola in the summer of 2007, and I moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina after he received his orders to be stationed there in the fall; this is why I attend college courses online, now.  We married on March 9, 2009, and he deployed to Africa two months after.  He returned in January of this year (2010), and in May we celebrated our one-year anniversary by spending the weekend in New York City; we enjoyed our first Broadway musical that weekend.

We found out that I was one month pregnant in July, and we are very excited to become first-time parents.  Our baby is due on March 18, 2011, and we couldn’t be more excited, although we still aren’t far enough along to find out the sex of our baby.
I am excited to become a mom and look forward to sharing experiences with you all!
