Laura Waller

My name is Laura Waller and I attended Appalachian State University. After college I moved to Washington DC where I taught Kindergarten. The best part of my time in DC was meeting my wonderful husband Jacob. After enjoying all the excitement of DC, we moved back to Eastern North Carolina, where I continued teaching. After trying for a while to get pregnant and meeting with infertility doctors, we welcomed our first child, Elliana, into the world. Elliana means “my God has answered” and she certainly is our answered prayer. We decided that I would stay home to be with Elli full time. When Elli turned one year old, I decided to cheat a little on the “stay at home” gig and take a part time job working with refugee families in the school systems. That job will end in the Spring of 2012 and, as timing would have it, our second baby is due in May. At this point in time, my days are consumed with keeping up with Elli (which is harder than it sounds), working, trying to find exciting activities around Eastern NC for our family to experience, an occasional work out, and honestly - an occasional nap. I know things are certainly going to change in our house and in some ways that makes me a bit nervous so I am always excited to get advice from experienced moms!

About

TummyTime is all about pregnancy, delivery and the first year of baby’s life. We welcome moms who are expecting their first, second, even sixth baby! And, if you’ve delivered in the past year and wish to impart your wisdom in this area, feel free to join us! We also welcome spouses, family members or friends of someone who is in this phase of parenting; if you wish to join the community, please feel welcome to do so.

Other Onslow Parenting Resources

MomTalk
MomTalk is a place where moms can share, listen, learn or just enjoy. In establishing MomTalk, Onslow’s goal was to create an online community focused on healthy parenting. We’ll provide healthy information that moms can use, but ultimately we hope the moms in Onslow County will build MomTalk Forums in a place that is special and helpful for them. The entire online community will successfully grow as moms join and participate in Groups, follow Twitter posts or subscribe to any of the blogs (listed below). The more moms become active in any of these communities, the more healthy the community becomes. The MomTalk site itself is a starting point to explore all of Onslow’s social media destinations.

MomTalk Hub Site
This new site will allow moms to get a birds eye view of the latest happenings across the entire MomTalk community. See the latest blog posts, the trending topics on the blogs,  the latest forum discussions and a weekly health tip.

MomTalk Forums
Formerly MomTalk, the community site will be streamlined to focus on discussions about parenting. Join groups, start discussion threads and participate in conversation. You can still share photos and find “friends”, as well as see videos and get great health information.

CuddleBugs
CuddleBugs focuses on that cute but often challenging phase between infant and 5 years. Got wisdom, questions or humor (especially humor)? CuddleBugs wants you. You’ll find a Discussion Group on the MomTalk forums site, plus more conversation on Twitter and the blog.

JustKiddin
JustKiddin is for parents of elementary-aged children. From that adorable first day of school, through the end of fifth grade, kids go through a variety of developmental and emotional changes…not to mention experiencing a few lost teeth, the first signs of “tweendom” and the cuddly cuteness that only kids have. Be there for it all by following the blog or our Twitter feed. Also look for the new JustKiddin group on the MomTalk forums site.

Middleville
Middle schoolers really are caught in the middle – not quite “kids”, but also not yet “teens.” Join up here to share your experiences and learn about others’ for this unique parenting phase. Connect with other parents of middle schoolers on MomTalk, or get active with the blog or on Twitter.

RealiTeen
RealiTeen provides parents a way to initiate or monitor discussions about teen parenting and health. No shortage of lively conversation about teenagers! As with all the parenting phase groups, you can follow on Twitter, join the blog or the RealiTeen Discussion Group.
