Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

Not all things are meant to be shared

Like Germs!! That’s right I teach my children to share but not to share germs!!

Small disclaimer (that could be a whole blog post by itself): Just because my child does something that seems rude doesn’t mean I’m not teaching them. Don’t judge a parents parenting based on one moment you witness of their child. We can teach all we like but they will mess up because they are learning hence the word ‘teach’.

So Caelum had pink eye last week and I had written a blog about it. Well his actually got worse and lasted over a week. This is 9 days of waking up after each sleep with his eye crusted shut, him crying ‘bloody’ tears and his eye being half closed and swollen, and him being grumpy and uncomfortable.

Come to find out a mother at the in home day care he attends had taken her child to day care the day after being diagnosed. It hadn’t even been 24 hours since antibiotics.

I know it’s hard when your kids are sick and you have a job but that comes with being a parent. I missed work last week and he missed day care (but I still had to pay).

He was put on stronger eye drops along with oral antibiotics and was told if not improving in 2 days he would need to see an ophthalmologist. Thank goodness it improved.

When your kids sick do what you can to keep them home.
