Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

Bye Bye Bottle Already?!

This could work?!

It’s so hard to keep up with a growing baby and two growing children. My middle school-er has so many school activities happening on top of his regular school work plus baseball I know I’m missing something. I just hope I miss something voluntary and non-important and not some big school project. Yes it’s his responsibility to remember and keep track of these things but he’s 11 and If I didn’t check up on him he would be failing all of his classes!

All of the kids have recently been sick and had or have routine shots coming up. Lyra has a dance recital coming up. We got through school pictures OK though! Caelum’s first birthday is Sunday!!!

With Lyra I switched her to a sippy cup and put away all the bottles pretty much the day after she turned one. She did fine with no problems at all. Caelum hates every sippy cup I have tried so far. I’m slower on things with him partly because I couldn’t be any faster if I tried partly because I’ve been through it before and know better than to rush it!

How did that process go for you? Did you offer sippy cup in place of bottle or offer it after bottle? It can be expensive to try a lot of different ones but what if he doesn’t like any of them?

Lyra at this age was drinking out of a straw but Caelum hasn’t grasped that just yet.

Any tips on helping with this transition?
