Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

Feeling Baby Move For The First Time!

So my husband and I were lying in bed the other night.  I had my head on his shoulder and my tummy was up next to his side.  We were talking about the events of the day and plans for the next day, just our usual wind-down before we drifted off to sleep. Suddenly, there was a major movement inside my belly, which tossed my tummy into his side.  “Did you feel
that?!” we both said at the same time. The baby did some sort of crazy movement inside my belly that caused us both to feel it and it was amazing!

I must tell you that at our first ultrasound at 12 weeks, this baby was observed standing on its head, waving its arms around up above its head, kicking its legs, and doing summersaults!  This is the first time I have ever seen one of my babies actually moving around like that during an ultrasound.  The other three usually were sleeping and had to be awakened in order for them to do a little movement for us, but not this baby….showoff!

For the last week or so, I have been feeling little swirls and flutter type movements inside my belly, but when I put my hand on my stomach…NOTHING.  So the other night was very surprising to say the least.  I loved it!  You may think that after having three pregnancies, feeling the baby move would be old.  But oh no! It was spectacular all over again. It was dark in our room that night, but I am sure we were both grinning ear to ear, proud parents that we are. The fact that we got to share that special moment at exactly the same time, priceless!

Do you remember when you felt your baby move inside you for the first time?  What were you doing when you felt it?  How did it make you feel?
