Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

No Stretch Marks Yet

Exhibit "A"

Everyone keeps telling me I have the cutest pregnant belly. They say “Wow! Not a stretch mark on that belly”. I say, not yet…

When I was in 5th grade, I grew to the height I am now in one summer. From my hips to the back of my calves I have lovely purple and white stretch marks. Not to mention my mother’s stomach is covered with them from carrying my 9 pound 6 ounce brother (she’s my hero). So I’m expecting stretch marks. Big deal. They’re battle scars of love. Or so I’m telling myself.

What I did not expect was for my belly button to shift to the right about 2 inches. Yup! You heard correctly. I took a picture of my stomach last night and my belly button is on the move. No one I know has heard of this. I hope it goes back to it’s home once Addison is here! If I’m getting stretch marks in addition to a funky placed button, then you best believe I’m not ever wearing a bikini again…That is all.

Please tell me this has happened to you or someone you know. If so, did it return to its spot after birth?

My belly button hasn’t shifted… perhaps it’s the way your baby is sitting in your tummy causing it to be unleveled?

btw, I envy your stomach lol I have stretch marks all over mine :/

Haha, oh you’re forgetting I’m only 29 weeks. The stretch marks will come I’m sure. And I’m now told it’s because of my uterine band causing my tummy to be a bit lopsided haha. Fun!

    Hi Alexis,

I am not pregnant but was googling for ways to dimish the appearance of my Stretch Marked legs, and butt when this popped up. I can say that I am releived that someone else grew like me, but the marks on my calves really get to me in the summer. In direct sunlight they pretty much scream “hey look at me”. In any case, do you have any recommendations as to how to lessen the appearance, or do you just deal with it and wear shorts anyways? I imagine that once I do have a baby, it will be easier for me to accept them, but I cannot help but be self conscious. Any advice for me?

    Thanks,
    Amanda
