The Birth Plan
I love that we are given the option of a birth plan. Even if all doesn’t go as planned, at least we can choose the ideal version of how we would want the labor and delivery process to go.
I’ve filled out my anesthetics/admissions procedure paperwork and my birth plan seems to be all set. I never knew how many options there were available to us expectant women! If all goes according to plan, which I’m hoping but still doubting it will, then I should be as comfortable as possible during the entire hospital experience.
I chose the option of music being played in the background over the option of the delivery room being as quiet as possible. If all I were to hear was the beeping monitor and my dramatic breathing then I really think I would freak out more than I’m already expecting to. I’m not sure what music I want playing in the background, but I’m sure whatever I decide will help me get through everything a little easier. They gave me the option of having dim lighting too, but I chose not to forgo that because I kind of want the doctor to be able to see everything he needs to… safety over preference! As for my wanting any anesthetics or not, I marked epidural and signed my authorizing signature faster than I’ve ever signed anything before.
I love the option of wearing the hospital gown or wearing your own clothes. Naturally, I chose my own clothes and I’ve had them picked out for a month or two already. I’ll probably wear the gown during the delivery but for the rest of my stay in the hospital I’ll have some comfy pj’s and a fuzzy robe. Wearing the hospital gown during the delivery was an easy decision because I chose to have Levi given to me before he’s taken away to be washed off, so I don’t want to get my own clothes lathered with amniotic fluids and blood…
I feel that I have everything covered, from walking the halls to help with relaxation to changing positions every 20 minutes to help manage the back pains. I know Blake will be in the delivery room with me helping me through the breathing exercises and he will be the one to cut the cord, not the hospital staff.
Did anyone luck out and have your birth plan happen the way you chose it or am I dreaming too vividly?

Hey! Which hospital are you going to? And did they give you a birth plan to fill out?
I’m delivering at Naval. They gave me paperwork the other day at my appointment to fill out and the birth plan was one of them. They want me to turn it in no later than my 30 week mark (I think that’s when it was) so they can have it on file. They gave me the epidural paperwork with it, and I filled that out fast lol
Where are you delivering?
