Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

Advice from moms

My favorite pic from the shower. He's holding "diaper changing tongs" haha.

I had my baby shower this past weekend and it was amazing. All my friends and family were there. We played games, ate delicious food and cake along with opening presents! I received so many great things and I’m so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.

The best part of the shower were the advice cards. My mom thought it was a great idea to put cards on the table to allow all of the guests to give their parenting advice to the new mommy and daddy to be.

I’m so glad she did.

Here are some of my favorites:

  • Kids will be kids so have a sense of humor.
  • Bring your child to Disney World as much as possible.
  • Enjoy every moment because time flies.
  • Stimulate her imagination.
  • Have patience!
  • Let her explore her world, even if it means eating dirt.
  • Have noise around while she sleeps. As she grows she will sleep through anything because of it!
  • The greatest thing you can give your child is faith.

My favorite: Choose your battles wisely. If she wants to dress like scuba steve that is fine, but if she wants to move in with scuba steve at 15 you better say something!

I loved all of my advice and if you haven’t had your baby shower yet I highly recommend putting these cards out.

And, if you’re an experienced mom and have additional advice to share, please do so!

It was an awesome idea. We had sooo much fun. He came for the last 1/2 hr because his mom made him a daddy survival package. It was hilarious.
