Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

O.K., That Was Weird… And Neat!

The other day, Blake and I were watching a movie; he was on the couch and I was sprawled out in the chair, shirt up and my belly lotion-lathered.  I could feel Levi going crazy in my belly, kicking and flipping, and when I looked down and smiled at my belly, I saw it bulge out!

When Levi moved, it looked something like this!

At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw my stomach move upwards, as if an invisible string were attached to it and pulling on it.  I quickly told Blake to pause the movie and to avert his eyes to our son.  He gawked at my belly for a few seconds and he waited for something to happen, and then Levi moved again; he couldn’t believe his eyes!

Immediately, we called my mom!  She didn’t seem too surprised, as if she had been waiting for the phone call.  She laughed and said, “Is that right?”  I guess I knew that I would eventually be able to see where Levi was moving to go along with feeling where he was moving, but I didn’t think that it would happen until around 7 months, or so.

I wonder what he’s doing in there… I’ve felt him moving around so much more this week than I have in the past few weeks, but I’ve never actually seen him moving.  I guess when he flips or rolls he pushes his bottom or foot against the walls of the womb.  I feel as though I am experiencing a healthy pregnancy because all of his activity reminds me that he is a healthy baby.

As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, sometimes Levi kicks so hard that it causes me to jump, and now I watch for those hard kicks because they are pushing my stomach outwards.

I have recently started to enjoy being pregnant more and complain about being uncomfortable a little less these days.  It’s amazing how much Blake and I are experiencing so fast with our Levi.  We knew that he was going to be going through a growth-spurt since our last doctor’s appointment, but they didn’t tell us about the moving tummy!

How far along were you when you were able to see your belly move as your baby moved inside you?
