Mom Talk
On Saturday, I attended a baby shower for a good friend of mine. Tracy, the mommy to be is expecting her third baby (the first boy) in the next couple of weeks. Out of all the people at the shower, there were only two of us that do not have children (yet); everyone else has two or more.
As with most showers, there was a lot of mom talk and it was a little startling. They talked about everything from delivery to starting kindergarten. Among the frightening talk were the wonderful topics of breast feeding and potty training. I knew those were going to be wild times in my life, but I did not realize how difficult breast feeding can be and all the different places that poo can get!
At one point, someone asked if they were scaring us. The other “non-mom” said that it would definitely be a while before she had children. I just pointed to my tummy and said, “I am scared to death, but I seem to be fully committed at this point, so here goes nothing!”
Along with all of the not so fun things they talked about, the experienced moms also shared some really cute and funny stories about their little ones. As scared as I may be for some of the things that are going to happen when the baby arrives and as she grows, I am so excited for all of the adorable moments that are going to happen at the same time. I have to remember to keep my camera nearby at all times.
What are some of your favorite memories of your children?
