Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

24 and Pregnant…

Last year, I somehow became a fan of the show 16 and pregnant.  Yes, they hooked me and I watched every episode.  I recently saw a preview for the upcoming season of the show and it really made me think about things. Last year when I watched the show, I was not expecting so I had no idea what the young girls on the show were experiencing. After surviving a big portion of a pregnancy, I have no idea how they manage.

Maci, my favorite Mom from the show...

I cannot imagine what my life would have been like if I would have had a baby at the young age of sixteen.  In no way am I trying to pass judgment on anyone or their individual situations.  All I know is that I am twenty four, married, and financially stable, yet I still worry that I am not ready to be responsible for another human being.  I worry that we will not have everything ready before the baby gets here, I worry there will not be enough money to get her the things she needs, and I worry about just about everything else.  Maybe I worry a bit too much.  Despite my worries, we have everything that we need and everything will work out just fine once our sweet little girl enters this world.

I know that most of the girls on the show are scared and nervous, but there are a few of them that seem a little invincible.  They act completely confident and ready for what they are about to take on; even when they have no job, no high school diploma, no house, etc.  I know, it is reality television and I should not think so much into it, but it is hard not to put yourself in the shoes of others from time to time.   Perhaps I should try being a bit more brave like those girls.
