Molly Mathews

My name is Molly. I have been married for 5 years and have two children. A 10 year old step-son, a 2 year old daughter and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a boy! I live in the town I grew up in and have a large family that I see often. We all live close to each other right now and I hope it stays that way as we draw a lot of support from one another. I have been a nurse for 6 years, mostly in the emergency department, and I love my job. Since young childhood I dreamed of being a nurse and a mom and here I am both! I couldn't have imagined how difficult the journey would be but neither could I have fathomed the Joy that would come from both. Becoming a mom has made me into a better person in many ways and a bit of a crazy worry wart in other ways! Having support from other moms who have been there before or are there with you makes all the difference in the world!

My Baby Shower

I love baby showers.  I love celebrating new mothers, ooh-ing and aah-ing over teeny tiny clothes and blankets, eating tasty food, and talking with other women.  And all of this without my children.

While I love Nathan and Emily, I thoroughly enjoy occasionally having a bit of a break.  Mostly, though, I like being in the company of other women, eating, and talking.

This past weekend, two of my friends threw me a baby shower.  Haylee hosted it at her house, Heidi decorated, and both provided the food.  A good group of friends came out, and we had a great time visiting and eating.

One of the moms there, Karin, had her second child just two weeks ago, and she brought her new little girl.  It was sweet to see her newborn sleep so peacefully through the entire shower.  I know and remember well that newborns don’t do that all the time, but I love it when they do.  Seeing her newborn, it made me a bit more excited for our own upcoming arrival.

I received some thoughtful and cute baby gifts, and as far as I remember, they were all useful things.  New Baby will have some seasonally appropriate clothes to wear after all (we won’t have to break out the snowsuit!), and he’ll have plenty of diapers for at least the first few weeks.  He’ll also have snuggly blankets and toys, items Nathan and Emily have both loved and cherished.

I am so grateful to have such kind friends to throw and come to a baby shower for New Baby and me.  I really did enjoy it, and I’m feeling rejuvenated and a little more prepared for New Baby’s impending arrival.  Yea!
